Anna Nicole Smith Relationships: It’s Complicated

Posted 11 months, 1 week ago at 10:44 am. 0 comments

Legal documents and salacious allegations criss-crossed last week as hearings proceeded in the death of model/actress/TV personality Anna Nicole Smith.  Her lawyer/lover, Howard K. Stern has been charged along with two of her doctors with felony conspiracy to furnish drugs to Smith and prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict (Smith.)  Eleven prescriptions were found in her hotel room following her death in February 2007, all apparently signed by her psychiatrist, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich.

Also found at that time were a number of photos showing Dr. Eroshevich sharing a bathtub and “various intimate embraces” with Smith.  Clearly this was not a conventional doctor/patient relationship.  Eroshevich claims she was a friend/neighbor of Smith’s before their friendship evolved into a medical  relationship.  No comment was forthcoming in regard to the lesbian photographs, which were found on a computer in Smith’s hotel room.

The other doctor charged, Sandeep Kapoor was also accused of having a physical relationship with his buxomy patient.  This would be a true testament to the sex appeal of the woman who was the widow of 90-year-old John Howard Marshall III, as Dr. Kapoor claims to be gay.

These are in addition to earlier allegations that Stern was involved in a homosexual relationship with one of Smith’s other boyfriends, Larry Birkhead.  DNA tests established that Birkhead fathered a child with Smith that had once been claimed by Stern as his daughter.

Stern and the doctors have all pleaded “not guilty” and face a hearing October 5.

Derek Jones and Matt Auna Confrontation Tape in LDS Plaza

Posted 1 year, 1 month ago at 12:21 pm. 0 comments

The Salt Lake Tribune has obtained surveillance tape showing LDS security guards confronting, separating and detaining the gay couple caught kissing on Mormon-owned property.  On July 9, Derek Jones and Matt Auna were in Main Street Plaza, which they thought was a public area, when they exchanged a hug and a kiss.

The tape shows four bulky black-suited men forming a semi-circle around the two young men while engaging them in an apparently heated conversation.  One of the men in black approaches one of the young men, pointing his finger and apparently reaching to touch him, provoking the young man to push back.  The others move in to separate the couple and a struggle ensues.  The incident sparked “kiss-ins” in Salt Lake and other cities in the US.

The Salt Lake prosecutor has refused to pursue charges against the couple, on the grounds that they believed they were on public property and that guards had no right to eject them.  The plaza was formerly public property, purchased by the church in 1999, but there are no signs that indicate it’s now private property and signs of affection are prohibited.  State law requires the property owner to let the public know what rules to follow.

Main Street Plaza has reportedly been the scene of all kinds of heterosexual kissing in the past, including wedding celebrations, but the gay smooch set off the alarms in LDS security central.

It’s Over For Layton and Navratilova

The Daily Mail has a detailed report on the legal wrangling between I’m A Celebrity star former tennis great Martina Navratilova and her “ex-wife” Tony Layton.  It’s got screeching sedans, drop-in lawyers, shoving matches, recriminations, an unofficial wedding ceremony with platinum wedding bands, and a convenient husband in the other bedroom.  All in the sunny state of Florida, where same-sex relationships are not even recognized.

Queer of the Month June 2009 | Victor Fehrenbach

Lieutenant Colonel Victor Fehrenbach is an 18-year veteran of the United States Air Force.  As a flight weapons system operator he has flown 2,180 hours, including 488 combat hours in places like Afghanistan,  Iraq, and Kosovo.  On September 11, 2001 he was chosen to patrol the skies above Washington, DC while Dick Cheney and Condi Rice huddled in a bunker below.

In the course of his career, Fehrenbach has earned over 30 awards and medals including nine air medals, one of them for heroism.  As a flight instructor he has passed on his knowledge and experience to over 300 Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force officers.  He wants to be deployed again to combat, but one thing stands in the way.  Lt. Col. Fehrenbach is openly gay.

In September 2008, after a civilian acquaintance outed him, Fehrenbach was informed he was to be discharged under the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” anti-gay policy.  His first instinct was to submit quietly, even though he’s only two years away from retirement with full pension.

With encouragement from five of his fellow officers, he decided to fight, in the hope that President Obama would deliver on campaign promises to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”  The policy remains in place, however, and over 200 officers have been discharged just since Obama’s inauguration.

Fehrenbach, 39, is the son of Air Force parents.  His family supports his decision to fight his discharge.  As his sister, also a veteran, says, “This is the only thing he’s ever known in life.  It’s all he’s ever wanted to do.”

Fehrenbach has been called the “$25 Million Aviator” because that is the estimated investment from US taxpayers to develop and train him.  The Air Force seems determined to throw that investment, and much more, away.
